Bedminster, New Jersey, is in the Somerset Hills of northcentral New Jersey. For nature lovers, the area features farmlands, a trout stream and the Fairview Wildlife Preserve in a lively community of cyclists, runners and fishermen. With four parks and 34 acres for active recreation, including a scenic hike-and-bike trail, Bedminster gives locals and visitors plenty of opportunity to work up an appetite.

The Pluckemin Inn

The Pluckemin Inn is in Pluckemin, a historic village of Bedminster, New Jersey. Owned by Carl and Gloria LaGrassa, the restaurant welcomes diners with multiple fire places, an elegant atmosphere and over 10,000 bottles of wine in a three-story temperature-controlled tower. Executive chef Juan Jose Cuevas changes the contemporary American menu seasonally to feature dishes made of fresh, local ingredients. The attached Plucky Tavern offers a more casual atmosphere and menu. The restaurant is open for lunch Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and serves dinner Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Trattoria Mediterranea

Trattoria Mediterranea is a traditional family-style Italian restaurant owned by chef Michele and Elisa Pannia since 1994. Diners can observe chef Michele preparing dishes through a window in the dining room. Specialties include homemade pasta, Mediterranean strip bass and daily arrivals of fresh sea food. Reservations are recommended, and guests are welcome to bring their own wine. The restaurant is closed on Monday, open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Willie's Taverne

Willie's Taverne, owned by Jeff Beers, Jim Finnegan and Jack Welch, offers classic American cuisine. Diners have their choice of the cozy dining room or attached sports bar. Signature dishes include mesquite chicken quesadillas and ginger chicken potstickers. Kids eat free on Tuesdays, and a Sunday brunch buffet is offered from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant is open for lunch Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and serves dinner Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m., and Sunday until 9 p.m.
