Atlantic Beach, North Carolina Pet Friendly Hotels

Atlantic Beach, North Carolina Pet Friendly Hotels
Past the continental coast of North Carolina lies a strip of land in the Atlantic Ocean known as the Outer Banks. The Outer Banks consists of a series of islands and beach communities and serves as the true outdoor enthusiast's beach paradise. Atlantic Beach has an array of hotels resting almost oceanside. All the hotels include short trails leading to the white sand beaches and warm Atlantic waters that make this area a Spring-to-Fall tourist destination. Of course, no vacation is complete without the family dog or cat, and several hotels offer pet-friendly options.

Atlantis Lodge

Atlantis Lodge stands unique amongst all the Atlantic Beach lodgings, having been built within a maritime forest. The hotel has a total of 42 rooms with three different floor plans. The rooms vary from having two double beds to a single king bed. The lodge also boasts several suites with a single king bed and an in-room Jacuzzi. All the rooms come equipped with efficiency kitchens, TVs with DVD players, and every room has either a patio or deck facing the surf. Several of the rooms are highlighted as "pet-friendly" (excludes any suite option) and will welcome your cat or dog for an additional charge. These pet-friendly rooms tend to book up early, so plan well in advance if your prefer your pet to come with you. Hotel amenities include a private pool, a lounge with a full bar, big screen TV, ping-pong tables and standard pool tables, as well as a library. The hotel rests less than 100 yards from their private beach, where lounge chairs and umbrellas are complimentary for their guests.

Windjammer Inn

In contrast to the Atlantis Lodge is the Windjammer Inn. The inn rises over five stories and has over 120 rooms with four different room types. The standard room offers two double beds, while the king room is the same size with only one king-sized bed. They also offer a "specialty room," which includes two double beds, a sleeper sofa and small lounge area. They have a Jacuzzi king suite, which is the same size as the specialty room, but has only one king bed and a Jacuzzi tub. Every standard room includes a pet option (all other rooms do not allow pets) where (for an additional charge) your dog or cat is welcome. This adds up to nearly 80 pet-friendly rooms. Every room includes a patio or balcony facing the ocean and offers a microwave, mini-fridge and TV with cable. The hotel offers a series of amenities that includes a private pool and a private patio with umbrella tables that face the inn's man-made lagoon. They also offer an outdoor hot tub in season.

Pricing

As of Fall 2009, pricing seems to range widely depending on room type, weeknight vs. weekend, and season. A standard room off-season can be as low as $72 per night while an in-season night can hit close to $300 per night. These prices do not reflect pet-friendly rooms, which do not vary seasonally but can come as high as an additional $50 per night. Both hotels require a significant damage deposit as well. The amount depends on the pet(s), but can easily be $300 over the course of the stay (not per night).
