Steak Houses in St. Louis, MO
St. Louis is known for its the giant Gateway Arch, sports teams, shopping and dining. As the Gateway to the West, it's not surprising that some of the most notable figures in the St. Louis restaurant scene remain the high quality steak houses. After a day of taking in the Arch and hiking around the huge Jefferson National Expansion Memorial riverfront park that houses it, or browsing Antique Row on Cherokee Street, indulge yourself with some Mid-Western ambiance and a choice steak.

The Tenderloin Room

If you have just walked through the beautiful Forest Park, consider stopping by the Tenderloin Room for a bit to eat. Since the 1960's, the Tenderloin Room has been a fixture in St. Louis, serving fine beef steaks like filet mignon and New York Strip sirloin. Other options, should you find yourself craving something besides steak, include lamb, pork chops and chicken breast. Consider the Tenderloin Room if you enjoy a quiet, classy steak house. Make sure to make reservations, though, or you may not be able to get a seat.

Mike Shannon's Steak House

After visiting Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis, it only makes sense to stop by Mike Shannon's Steak House, which is only a short way north of the stadium. The midwestern beef served at Mike Shannon's is handled as little as possible during the aging process. The meat is aged in order to give the meat a more intense flavor, which is sealed into the meat during cooking. You can add a little extra flavor to your steaks by choosing a sauce or an addition like the incredible bleu cheese butter or horseradish mousse. Flavor rubs are also available.
