Hotels in Twisp, Washington
Twisp is a small town in the scenic Methow Valley in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains. It sits at the junction of State Routes 20 and 153 and can be reached by car or air. With just a little under a thousand people, Twisp is an example of a small town trying to find its way in modern times. Nevertheless, the locals are friendly and the country is absolutely spectacular. Some of the activities include biking, backpacking, canoeing, fishing, cross-country and alpine skiing, river rafting, horseback riding, snowmobiling and a great deal more. If you've never been, you're in for a treat. You'll also want a good place to say. There are a handful of accommodations in Twisp itself, and others in the surrounding hills.

Methow Valley Inn

The Methow Valley Inn is the best place to stay when you're visiting Twisp. The furniture is gorgeous, the decorations vivacious and the old hardwood floors are almost as nice. The rooms are well-kept, well-stocked and clean. The ground level features a sun room, a library, a spacious porch and a great room nestled against a greater stone fireplace---perfect for the heart of winter. With only seven rooms upstairs, the inn is really a big bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. It has a lot more personality than a hotel, thanks to the passion of Dutch locals Terry and Melissa Larson, who own and operate it. Terry cooks a hearty breakfast each morning, often using fresh fruit straight from the beautiful gardens out back, which are kept by Melissa. Combined with the spectacular country of the Methow Valley, the Methow Valley Inn is a legitimate destination in itself.

Twisp River Inn

The Twisp River Inn is a handsome wood lodge a few miles up the Twisp River Road from downtown Twisp. Some of the rooms here have a scenic view of the Twisp River or the Sawtooth Mountains. There's a good fireplace in the common area, and a full breakfast is served every morning. Horse boarding is available, and there are many trails nearby for horses and humans alike---including a connection to the Pacific Crest Trail. Other outdoor activities range from snowshoeing to fishing to birdwatching. Methow Valley locals Denise Tompetrini and Leverett Hubbard are the hosts.

Sun Mountain Lodge

Eight miles from Twisp, the Sun Mountain Lodge is a luxury resort hotel sitting on 3,000 acres atop a hill overlooking the Methow Valley. They offer fine dining at two restaurants, a wine cellar, a gift and convenience store and a spa. The lodge is also available for weddings, business retreats and banquets. You'll pay good money to stay here, but the service and amenities are some of the finest in the Methow Valley. The staff is crisply professional, the kitchen is upper crust and there are special events throughout the year, such as sleigh rides during the holiday season. Most guest rooms have panoramic views, and all of them are lavishly decorated. There are also private cabins available at nearby Patterson Lake. Outdoor activities are abundant year-round, and the lodge is a short drive away from golf and skiing.
