Sri Lanka Resorts

Sri Lanka Resorts
Sri Lanka is a tropical paradise for those looking for exotic adventures. Whether it's hiking through the jungle, exploring caves, climbing mountains or participating in water sports, visitors will have much to do. But for those looking for a relaxing and quiet time, this country also has many resorts.

Amangalla Resort Hotel

Renovated from a 17th-century Dutch Fort, the Amangalla Resort Hotel in southwestern Sri Lanka offers a wide range of old-style amenities. Take, for example, the resort's public baths, which have been modernized to include a full spa with sauna, steam room and massage area. There is also a studio in the spa that offers meditation and yoga lessons. And unlike most resorts, the Amangalla has a large library that allows guests to borrow novels, magazines, newspapers, CDs and board games. The seven bedrooms that the resort offers are more like apartments than guest rooms, with kitchens, living rooms and private balconies.

It also offers yoga and meditation lessons up to three days a week for all hotel guests, as well as weekly cooking classes. The Lavender House

For those looking for a simple and quaint resort in central Sri Lanka, look no farther than The Lavender House. This modest, relatively inexpensive resort was built out of a former tea planter's residence in the tea fields of Pussellawa. Guests are treated to five large apartment-style rooms, with their own personalized courtyards. There is a communal dining room that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The food cooked there is made out of the fresh ingredients grown in the resort's local garden.

Ceylon Continental is a resort hotel on the waterfront of Sri Lanka's capital, Columbo. It offers three types of rooms: ocean-view rooms, executive rooms and presidential suites. All of these come with flat-screen televisions, 24-hour room service and a kitchen area. Of course, no resort is complete without a lot of relaxing amenities, and the Ceylon Continental is certainly no exception. Guests can enjoy the resort's full spa with steam room and sauna, gym with personal trainers, outdoor beach-front swimming pool and squash courts. The resort also includes a shopping gallery with boutique shops, such as a jewelry and souvenir store.
