There are many excellent trails in the Reno, Nevada, area, and nothing hits the spot after a day spent outdoors than a good steak. Try some of Reno's exceptional carnivorous offerings. A fair warning, however: After a great steak and some wine, you might be tempted by some of Reno's less virtuous offerings.

Ruby River Steakhouse

Ruby River Steakhouse has several locations around Utah and Nevada and has been in operation for more than 15 years. The restaurant is known for the quality of its meats, which the chefs will always cook to your liking. The menu is big and heavy on meats, with a number of sides and some decent wines. The décor is sparse but welcoming, and the staff is very friendly.

Sterling's Seafood Steakhouse

Sterling's is a local favorite. It is slightly more upscale than some of Reno's other steakhouse options, and the prices reflect this. The ambiance is warm and romantic, and the dress code is casual but sophisticated. The steak, particularly the filet mignon, is exceptional and the menu also offers seafood and some delicious pasta options to boot.

Ichiban Japanese Steak House & Sushi

For a slightly more exotic flare head to Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi. The restaurant offers terrific tasting menus featuring steak, lobster, chicken and seafood. Ichiban offers Teppanyaki Dining -- seating around a hibachi grill so a show courtesy of one of the chefs is part of the experience. There is also an "all you can eat'" sushi and tempura menu.

Harrah's Steakhouse

Harrah's is a high-end steak house offering American classics such as prawn cocktail, rack of lamb and filet mignon with an impressive wine list to wash it all down. The dress is sophisticated, and the restaurant is open late, so come before or after you hit the casinos.
