Rhode Island is a small state with numerous opportunities for outdoor adventure. There are miles of natural beaches, hiking trails, golf courses, sailing and kayaking available. Many of these venues welcome your dog and there are hotels which make a visit to Rhode Island, with your canine companion, an easy venture. When traveling with your dog be courteous and aware of fellow guests. Follow the hotel rules and thank them for allowing your dog to stay at their property. Leave the room free of any signs of a canine guest. Let the hotel know in advance that you are traveling with your dog.

Marriott - Downtown Providence

The Providence Marriott Downtown is located in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island. This smoke-free hotel is near the business district, shopping and universities. It offers complimentary guest parking and a connecting indoor/outdoor pool. A shuttle is available to and from T.F. Green Airport, for a minimal fee. High-speed Internet access is available in rooms for a fee but it is free within public areas of the hotel. The hotel is located 30 miles from Newport beaches. There are five golf courses located within 20 miles of the Marriott. The closest golf course, Triggs Memorial Golf Course, is only three miles from the hotel. There is an on-site spa and state of the art fitness center.

The Providence Marriott Downtown is pet-friendly. The hotel does require a nonrefundable pet-sanitation fee. Providence is a dog-friendly city. There are two off-leash dog parks and numerous restaurants that welcome pets on outdoor patios during the summer months. Walk your dog along the riverfront, a short walk from the hotel.

Newport - Hotel Viking

The Hotel Viking has been a premier hotel in Newport since 1926. It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. There is an indoor pool and a fitness center. It is convenient to all that Newport has to offer and is closely located to the Newport beaches, waterfront, shopping and restaurants. Newport is well known for its outdoor summer festivals. Area sailing and bicycling tours are available near the hotel.

The Hotel Viking is dog-friendly and welcomes canine guests in the Newport wing of their hotel. They have developed a dog welcome package which offers visiting dogs organic biscuits and a canine room service menu. There is a maximum of two pets per room and the hotel requests that dogs be crated if left alone in the room. There is a cleaning fee per pet. Newport is a dog-friendly city with an off-leash dog park and many hotels offering canine friendly patio dining during the summer season.

Warwick - La Quinta Inn Suites

The La Quinta Inn & Suites Warwick Providence Airport is located in Warwick, Rhode Island. The hotel provides a free airport shuttle and offers free Internet and wireless access. It has a pool and fitness center. A free breakfast and laundry services are available to guests. The hotel is located just off of I-95 and, therefore, has easy access to Providence and surrounding cities. The hotel is 28 miles from Newport. McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, is an 11-mile drive. Goddard Memorial State Park offers a beach, golf, horseback riding and hiking trails.

The La Quinta Inn allows up to three dogs in a room. Warwick has a large off-leash dog park.
