Located 15 miles northwest of Atlanta, the picturesque city of Marietta, Georgia has a population of just over 67,500. Marietta has a small-town vibe, with beautiful parks, quaint neighborhoods and historic sites, but it is also a dynamic urban area. Explore the outdoors by visiting the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, which boasts 16 miles of hiking trails, taking you through historic Civil War battle sites. After a day biking through the nearby Red Top Mountain State Park or swimming in Allatoona Lake, bring your appetite to one of Marietta's steakhouses.

Cherokee Cattle Co. is centrally located near Marietta's Market Square. The steaks are aged, hand-cut on site and grilled over mesquite wood. Choose from barbecue skirt steak, rib eye, prime rib, filet or peppercorn; mesquite-grilled pork and lamb chops are also served. Cherokee has sandwiches, including Philly cheesesteak, chicken ranch, French dip and burgers. Some of the restaurant's signature dishes are kabobs (chicken, steak or shrimp), homemade chicken pot pie and the Black Jack salmon basted with Jack Daniel's glaze and grilled. For vegetarians, there are salads and some appetizers. Cherokee has some serous desserts: caramel mountains, cheesecake, chocolate mousse tulips and white chocolate raspberry cake are just a few. Dress is casual and you can dine-in or carry-out.

Chicago's Steaks, Seafood & Pasta

Bringing the Windy City to the Peach State is Chicago's steakhouse. If you hit the trails in Chattahoochee River National Park, get some sun at Morgan Falls Park, then be sure to travel to nearby Roswell to enjoy this Chicago-style steakhouse. The menu features hand-cut steaks, slow-roasted prime rib, fresh seafood, ribs, pasta, burgers and sandwiches. Steak choices include NY strip, filet mignon and rib eye. There is a large selection of wines, specialty drinks, cocktails and cold beer; the "Ultimate Martini" is highly recommended. Appetizers include lobster bisque, spinach & artichoke dip and fried calamari. There are soups and salads for the vegetarian and a children's menu, with meals like hamburgers, pizza, fish & chips and chicken strips. The restaurant has a private dining room, which can accommodate up to 24 guests. There is no official dress code, but shorts are not recommended.

The Longhorn Steakhouse

This restaurant has several locations in and around Marietta, serving up the flavors of the Old West. Steaks are hand-cut and seasoned, burgers are thick and the salads are freshly made at Longhorn, voted America's favorite steakhouse by a Restaurants & Institutions consumer survey. Try the prime rib, T-bone, rib eye, sirloin, porterhouse, chopped steak or a filet, including the signature stuffed filet, filled with fontina cheese, mushrooms and red peppers. Chicken dishes are served, along with ribs, seafood and desserts, like the Caramel Apple Goldrush and the Chocolate Stampede, made with six types of chocolate. The Longhorn has a lunch and kid's menu, in addition to other menu specials. Prices are mid-range and dress is casual.
