Dwight D. Eisenhower Lock and Visitors Center
The Dwight D. Eisenhower Lock and Visitors Center is a working showcase of the shipping transport system type found along the St. Lawrence river. A trip to this venue will take you back to the days when huge transport ships were the primary mode used to transport goods throughout inland North America to the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can actually see the lock in action as it fills with and empties of water to buoy ships on their passage. Lock operations are scheduled, so if you want to see that feature, it's best to plan ahead.
