Washington, D.C., the nation's capital, offers an abundance of outdoor activities. Jogging and biking trails run throughout the city, from Rock Creek Park to the C&O Canal in Georgetown to the National Mall. Rock Creek Park, one of the biggest urban parks in the country, also has horseback riding and hiking trails.

Water sports enthusiasts can canoe or kayak the Potomac River or peddle boat in the Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial. You can also take a bicycle tour of the nation's monuments and explore the National Zoo and the National Arboretum.

The Willard, an Intercontinental Hotel, is the city's most famous and historic luxury hotel. Located just two blocks from the White House and the National Mall, the hotel is convenient to DC's biggest attractions. A national historic landmark, the hotel has been open for business since 1850. The Sofitel borders Lafayette Square and is two blocks from the White House. This 4-star historic hotel was built in 1880.
