Located just north of metropolitan London, Hertford provides an easy peek into the English countryside. The town sits on four rivers, the Lee, Mimram, Rib and Beane. The largest, the Lee, is open for hiking and cycling along its banks. The area is host to a number of historical sites, including the ruins of Hertford Castle, in the town's center, and the nearby ancient Roman town of Verulamium. After you've hiked along the rivers, visited the castle and had a pint at the Barge public house, there are plenty of places where you can put up your feet.
