Restaurants in Padre Island, Texas
A spring break party destination for college kids across the nation, South Padre Island lies at the southern tip of Texas on the Gulf of Mexico. The small tropical town is connected to the mainland only by the 2½-mile Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge. South Padre is a barrier reef 34 miles long and a half-mile wide with about 5,000 inhabitants and 1 million visitors each year. It is a year-round vacation spot, thanks to its moderate climate. There is plenty to do, with beautiful beaches, fishing, boating, water sports, biking, rollerblading, shopping and great restaurants. Just 30 miles north of Mexico, Padre offers rivers, lakes, parks and trails, including the Laguna Madre Nature Trail. Folks on the island are serious about relaxation; wearing a tie is a violation for which you can be fined!

Blackbeard's Restaurant

After riding the trails and soaking up the Texas sun, you'll surely have worked up an appetite for sandwiches, burgers and seafood. Blackbeard's has been serving South Padre guests since 1978 in a relaxed, beach atmosphere with a full bar and 32 domestic and import beers. Blackbeard's has fresh Gulf seafood, including oysters, scallops, shrimp, calamari, flounder and tuna, as well as chicken dishes, salads and Po' boys. And if you don't mind splurging, Texans know how to cook a chicken fried steak. Plenty of menu items are under $10, but many of the seafood, steak and pasta entrees run from $10.99 to $23.99. Blackbeard's offers daily lunch specials from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., a kid's menu, appetizers and desserts. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Dress is casual, so come in your flip flops and Hawaiian shirts.
