Hotels in Guaymas, Sonora
If a ferry connection to Santa Rosalita, Baja Caifornia, finds you seeking lodging in the bustling port city of Guaymas, you'll have a handful of options. But if you're in the area for a couple of days, a better option is to head 15 miles west to the resort town of San Carlos, which has a superior selection of hotels and a great rock-climbing attraction in Tetakawi Hill.

Hotel Armida

Located on the highway leading into town from the north, the Armida is an excellent option in Guaymas thanks to its combination of good facilities and modest pricing. The hotel has 124 guestrooms and four suites, all with air conditioning, WiFi and cable TV. There's an on-site restaurant and bar, swimming pool, gym and free parking for guests. The hotel is a five-minute walk to the center of town.

Hotel Playa de Cortes

For ocean view accommodation, head to the Hotel Playa de Cortes, set on a broad bay on the west side of town that features great sunset views and elegant Spanish colonial homes. The Playa de Cortes has 89 double rooms as well as 22 suites with ocean views and eight, two-bedroom bungalows, some outfitted with a kitchen. Services include an on-site restaurant and bar, WiFi and air conditioning. A swimming pool, tennis courts and the beach in front are the Playa de Cortes' recreational offerings.

Fiesta Real San Carlos

This nicely priced beachfront option in San Carlos has 33 rooms with WiFi. A restaurant and two bars provide for guests' eating and drinking needs, and recreational options include a swimming pool and beach volleyball courts. There's a parking area for guests, and beautifully landscaped gardens.

The Fiesta Real San Carlos is just down the street from the Sonoran Sports Center, which in addition to sailing and diving lessons, rents mountain bikes (See Resources). Ask them to point you toward the Soldado, Potrero and Anegados desert trails.

The Tetawaki, just a few steps west of the Fiesta Real San Carlos, has 22 air conditioned rooms as well as an adjacent RV park. A restaurant, lounge, snack bar and swimming pool are among the amenities here.
