Hotels in Florence, Colorado

Hotels in Florence, Colorado
The small town of Florence, Colorado, sits on the banks of the Arkansas River, near the Royal Gorge, which is sometimes called the Grand Canyon of the Arkansas. Visitors can cross the world's highest suspension bridge to look down into the 1,200-foot-deep canyon, or enjoy the view from the Royal Gorge Scenic Railway. Back in Florence, enjoy fly fishing or whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River, or tour the more than a dozen antique shops in a downtown that maintains a turn-of-the-century ambiance. Visitors to Florence can choose between two hotels and a bed-and-breakfast inn.

Riviera Inn

The Riviera Inn is the kind of motor court travelers might have frequented on road trips in the fifties and sixties---small, locally owned and one of a kind. The rooms aren't fancy, but they're clean and up to date, and offer welcome amenities such as a refrigerator and microwave, cable TV and free wireless Internet. There's a coin laundry on site and local calls are free. Guests are welcome to the indoor hot tub, a great way to relax after a day of hiking, fishing or rafting.

Florence Rose

This restored red brick Victorian mansion features five guest rooms and common areas, including a library, music room and garden. Most of the bathrooms have claw-foot tubs and wood vanities. Old-fashioned wallpaper, antique furniture and high ceilings complete the feeling of being transported to another era. A full breakfast is served each morning in the dining room and is included in the room rate. You'll also be welcomed with tea and cookies. While you're here, ask to see the kitchen, where antique and modern appliances share space. The Inn offers free wireless, but no televisions in the rooms. Guests are welcome to use the TV in the library. Two of the rooms have private baths; the others share two bathrooms.
