Located in Caddo Parish, Greenwood offers a small-town atmosphere, as well as several enjoyable summer attractions. It is known as "the gateway to Louisiana," since it is less than two miles from the Texas border, and is home to the American Rose Garden. Every summer, the town hosts a series of musicals in the park. In December, nearby Shreveport hosts the Independence Bowl.

Country Inn & Suites

The Country Inn is a reasonably priced option. The hotel offers cable television, an outdoor pool, ample parking and air conditioning. By the end of 2009, they plan to offer wireless Internet service to guests. They sometimes provide shuttle service to the nearby Shreveport airport.

Mid Continent Inns

The Mid Continent Inn is a good value, with amenities that include outdoor pool, air conditioning and cable television on a 25-inch set. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable in helping guests schedule their trips. The hotel is located right off the highway, which allows for easy access to a number of other towns and attractions.

Kelly's RV Park

If you have the option, you should bring your RV (recreational vehicle). Greenwood has one of the better-outfitted RV parks available in the area, Kelly's RV Park. Kelly's provides all standard connections. During the Independence Bowl, you can take your motorhome to the stadium and enjoy some tailgating.
