Tegel Airport, the main airport in Berlin, is the terminus for all long-haul flights arriving in and departing from Berlin, except a few flights going to and from Israel. Continental Airlines flies directly from Newark between three and five times a week, depending on the season. Delta offers direct flights from New York JFK to Berlin twice a week. Qatar Airways runs flights from Doha to Berlin daily. Four times a week, Hainan Airlines flies directly from Beijing to Berlin. Flights to Tel Aviv arrive twice a week on Air Berlin. El Al flies into Schönefeld, Berlin's smaller airport, five days a week from Tel Aviv. Germania recently began to fly directly from both Aleppo and Damascus to Berlin once a week. Direct flights are also available on a daily basis to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Zürich, Frankfurt, and other European cities where travelers can connect to other international flights.

Berlin is just a short flight away from other European air hubs. Served by airlines such as British Airways, KLM, Swissair, Lufthansa, Iberia, and Qatar, an indirect flight to Berlin from destinations such as Boston, Sydney, Goa, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, and Johannesburg is available.
