Radisson Admiral Semmes Hotel
The Radisson Admiral Semmes Hotel has been a landmark in Mobile, Ala., since 1940 when it first opened. The hotel was named after Raphael Semmes, the first and only Commander of the Confederate ship the Alabama, which sank off the coast of France in 1864. The hotel was closed from 1979 until 1985, while it was undergoing reconstruction due to damage caused by Hurricane Frederic. Historic Traveler Magazine named the Radisson Admiral Semmes one of the Top 10 Historic Hotels in America. The Battle House, Renaissance
