Cruises to Yokohama, Japan

Cruises to Yokohama, Japan
Yokohama, the port city of Tokyo, is a thriving community with around 3.6 million inhabitants. The city lies south of Tokyo along Tokyo Bay and is less than half an hour from the city center by train. The pier itself at Yokohama is a park, an inventive use of mixed use space. The port city also has one of the largest Chinatowns in Japan, and visitors can tour the factory where Kirin beer is produced. All cruise lines that visit Yokohama offer a variety of shore excursions there. These are optional, but give outdoor enthusiasts a chance to do such things as hike around Mount Fuji and tour Hakone Park, known for its hot springs.

Crystal Cruises

Crystal Cruises frequently includes Yokohama in its world cruise itinerary. In 2009, the Crystal Serenity called at the port city during the 106-day voyage that also included the nearby ports of Nagasaki, Osaka and Shimizu. Passengers had the option of booking the entire voyage, as well as 12- and 30-day segments. Shore excursions in Yokohama included a trip to Mount Fuji and a walking tour of Kamakura's temples and shrines.
