Cayuga Lake is the longest of all of New York's Finger Lakes--at 40 miles. Visitors can hunt for fossils on Frontenac Island in the middle of the lake. The roads around the lake are used for biking. Fish species in Cayuga Lake are brown trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and northern pike. Robert Treman State Park, Long Point State Park and the Finger Lakes National Forest are great spots for hikers.

Knapp Winery & Restaurant

Knapp Winery & Restaurant is on the western shore of Cayuga Lake and is part of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. In warmer weather, you can dine on the outdoor patio overlooking the vineyards. The menu features limoncello salmon, crab cakes, chicken grappa pasta, filet of beef medallions and pan-seared duck breast. Prices in 2009 range from about $11.50 to $12.95.

Aurora Inn

The Aurora Inn is on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. Dining is available outside on a private deck or in the garden right by the lake. The menu features char-grilled beef tenderloin, fennel- and coriander-crusted sea scallops, pork chops and grilled peaches. Prices in 2009 range from about $26 to $29.

Pumpkin Hill

Pumpkin Hill is just east of Long Point State Park on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. The restaurant is on top of Pumpkin Hill, right outside the village itself. The menu features chicken pot pie, shepherd's pie, charred sugar-crusted salmon, grilled flat iron steak and roasted pork wings. Prices in 2009 range from about $11.99 to $23.99.

Suzanne Fine Regional Cuisine

Suzanne Fine Regional Cuisine is between Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake. The restaurant is in a 1903 farmhouse with two small 10-table dining rooms. There are tables on the porch during the summer and another dining room for private parties. The menu features roasted free range chicken breast, roasted rack of lamb and wild Atlantic halibut. Prices in 2009 range from about $23 to $33.

Mac's Drive In

Mac's Drive In has been in business since 1960. It is an old-fashioned drive-in restaurant where you meal is brought to you in your car. The menu includes old-fashioned drive-in fare like club sandwiches, Philly cheese steaks, burgers and fries, fried fish, fried shrimp in a basket and hot dogs. Prices in 2009 range from about $1.50 to $6.
