The White Mountains in eastern Arizona are home to several of the state's best stops for skiing, hiking, golf and other sorts of outdoor recreation. In this mountain range, St. Johns is a small community (about 3,500 people) in Apache County with four sites on the National Register of Historic Places. It sits close to other tourist spots Snowflake, Springerville and Pine Top. Because of the region's heavy tourism, St. Johns and its surrounding area are home to several hotels, including chains and locally owned spots.

A small, but comfortable hotel, the Days Inn is close to Lyman State Park with hiking trails and a man-made reservoir; it also serves as a convenient location to see the Hopi petroglyphs and the ruins of Rattlesnake Point Pueblo. Torreon Lodges and Golf Villas

A conveniently located luxury resort with golf course views, the Torreon Lodges are just steps from the golf shop, family center and fitness room. Each lodge features between one and three bedrooms, are air conditioned and have a fireplace and fully stocked kitchen.
