Airports Near Big Sur California
When traveling to Big Sur, Calif., travelers have several airport options. There are three major international airports within driving distance of Big Sur, servicing both local and long distance travelers.

San Jose International Airport (SJC)

San Jose International Airport (SJC) is about 75 miles north of Big Sur. Thirteen major airlines service SJC. There are many airport parking lots, both long and short term. Additionally, SJC also provides a cell phone waiting lot for those picking up arriving passengers. Nine rental car agencies are located at SJC's rental car center. Regional bus service and BART Rapid Rail provide transportation directly to and from SJC, while Greyhound and Amtrak stations are less than 5 miles away.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is about 100 miles north of Big Sur. Fifty major airlines serve SFO, including many Asian and European. SFO provides short and long term parking lots, as well as bicycle parking. Public transportation such as BART Rapid Rail, Caltrain Commuter Rail, and SamTrans all provide transportation to and from SFO, or travelers can rent cars from nine agencies at the rental car center.

Oakland International Airport

Oakland International Airport (OAK) is also about 100 miles north of Big Sur. Being close to SFO, only about 13 airlines provide service from OAK. There are many different parking options, depending on the length of stay. Cars can be rented from any of the nine agencies located within OAK. Public transportation such as AC Transit, BART, and Amtrak all service passengers traveling to and from OAK.
