Haunted Restaurants in Minneapolis

Haunted Restaurants in Minneapolis
A large city with small-town appeal, Minneapolis is full of tree-lined streets, historic districts and public parks near Victorian-era homes. Its twin-city, St. Paul, is a good place for travelers, offering unique and distinctive restaurants, hotels and activities. Steamboat rides, golf, sightseeing tours -- these cities offer plenty to keep visitors busy. If you are more adventurous, be sure not to miss dining at one of the area's haunted restaurants for a meal you may never forget.

Billy's Bar & Grill

Now a restaurant, the building that is now Billy's was once a hotel built in the 1800s. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was one of 86 area buildings damaged in a fire in 1884. Today the restaurant serves food, drinks and entertains with karaoke, but it is also reportedly haunted. The ghost of a woman with red hair has been seen by several witnesses in the windows of the third floor. Some believe it to be Lotta, the wife of former owner Charles Jackson. Other rumors name her as a prostitute from the 1920s who went missing while working at the hotel. Odd noises, moving objects and lights turning on and off also plague the building.

Anthony's Parkway Grille

The building that houses Anthony's Parkway Grille was once home to another long-standing restaurant, Benchwarmer Bob's; paranormal activity here was reported for years. Now an upscale American restaurant, it is not known if the building still has trouble. In the past, several restaurant employees reported seeing a full apparition of a Native American in the basement hallway. It is also reported that local police dogs will not enter the premises.

Forepaugh's Restaurant

A historic 19th century location, Forepaugh's is a classic structure that was remodeled and now offers a setting full of crystal chandeliers and antique furniture. The food is delicate classic French cuisine. The building itself is a historic three-story Victorian with a history of illustrious owners over the past 130 years. The rumors have building namesake Joseph Forepaugh committing suicide in nearby Irvine Park just outside the mansion. Just a short time later, a house maid is rumored to have hanged herself on the upper floor. It is her ghost that supposedly haunts the building. The ghosts of Joseph and his wife have been seen, lights go off and on, and loud footsteps can be heard in the basement and upper floors.
