With a name like Winter Park, it's no great mystery that winter activities abound in this Colorado resort area. An annual snowfall averaging 30 feet and a location just 67 miles from Denver make Winter Park a skier's dream. Winter Park isn't just for winter sports enthusiasts, however. Summertime visitors come for mountain biking, hiking and fishing. No matter what time of year you arrive, there are hotel choices to satisfy any outdoor adventurist.

The Vintage Hotel

Chairlifts are just 1/3 mile away from this property, which also provides ski lockers and an on-site ski shop. Offering both traditional-style hotel rooms and studios with kitchenettes and fireplaces, this Winter Park hotel is family and pet friendly. There is a sauna as well as an outdoor pool, and for dining, the Five Mountain Tavern serves hearty American fare and a breakfast buffet daily. Its close proximity to the resort entrance ensures that summer activities, such as bungee jumping, the Alpine Slide and Frisbee golf, are all within walking distance.

Winter Park Mountain Lodge

A traditional hotel with both standard rooms and suites, this property is located directly across from the Winter Park resort entrance. Amenities include a micro-brewery, as well as exercise facilities, an indoor pool, hot tubs and sauna. Also on site is a ski shop, which provides equipment rentals as well as overnight repair services. They also offer a kids-rent-free deal with qualifying adult rental. During the summer months, the front desk assists with booking white-water rafting on the Colorado River, golfing at four nearby courses or fishing in local waters.

Zephyr Mountain Lodge

This rustic-style hotel provides the only ski-in/ski-out accommodations in Winter Park, with a location just 100 feet from the resort entrance. There are one-, two- and three-bedroom units to choose from, all of which are nonsmoking and include a full kitchen. There are four outdoor hot tubs as well as an indoor fitness room. The lodge is at the base of The Village at Winter Park, a shopping area filled with boutiques, restaurants and sporting goods shops. During the summer months, the Village offers miniature golf, a human maze and a climbing wall for children. While on the free shuttle route, the hotel also operates a private shuttle, providing access to activities such as hiking and fishing in the summer and snowmobiling and sleigh rides in the winter.

Best Western Alpenglo Lodge

Located downtown, approximately two miles from the resort, this ski lodge is on the free shuttle route to the slopes. Besides offering a free hot breakfast daily, there are several restaurants and shops within a five-minute walk. There is a ski shop on site (winter only), as well as a ski wax room for your convenience. Summertime guests enjoy entry to the vast network of mountain bike trails located directly across from the hotel entrance.
