Harrah's Reno
Located in the heart of downtown off Center Street, this 25-story, 928-room hotel has a history that dates back to 1946. That was when Bill Harrah, who was known for operating bingo parlors, originally opened the property, which he'd called Harrah's Club. It was one of the first hotel/casinos in Reno. Terrible's Sands Regency
Located just two blocks from the city's famous arch, this downtown Reno resort was built in 1964. Fully renovated in 2003, Herbst Gaming Inc. now owns it. There are 830 rooms spread throughout three towers. You can try your luck in the 45,000-square-foot casino or grab a bite in Original Mel's of Reno diner. The health club, which is in the penthouse, shows views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There is also an arcade, a pool and a rental shop stocked with bikes, skis and snowboards.

Eldorado
Located on Virginia Street, the Eldorado opened in 1973. It originally contained 210 rooms. Over the past two decades, the Eldorado has expanded and now it has 815 rooms, which range from economy accommodations to Jacuzzi suites in the lavish Skyline Tower. The hotel has a stunning lobby made of marble and dark wood. There's a 580-seat showroom, along with eight restaurants (including a brew pub) and an 81,000-square-foot casino. Circus Circus Reno
Located on the north end of Virginia Street, this hotel opened in 1978 with 102 rooms. A knockoff of its Las Vegas counterpart, Circus Circus Reno experienced the same popularity surge and soon expanded. Today, it boasts more than 1,500 rooms in two towers that are connected by a monorail. The 65,000-square-foot casino is packed with more than 1,400 gaming machines. Along with free circus acts and other big top amusements, there are seven restaurants, a pool and a new workout facility.
