Greenwich Village, New York Hotels
Although it is a long way from hiking trails and many other outdoor activities, Greenwich Village in New York City is a great place to visit for a relaxing yet stimulating experience. With New York University at its center, Greenwich Village also has a wide range of museums, restaurants and entertainment. And, of course, it also has some of the finest hotels in the city.

Washington Square Hotel

Across from Greenwich Village's Washington Square Park, the Washington Square Hotel is a low-key European-style hotel within walking distance of downtown. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the deluxe rooms are decorated in an Art Deco style. The hotel also has a restaurant, "North Square," with a daily jazz brunch. Guests can also use the gym and visit the late night bar.

The Bowery Hotel

Just north of Soho, the Bowery Hotel, which opened in 2007, is a new addition to Greenwich Village. The interior was built to look old and majestic and has touches of modern art. No two rooms are exactly alike, but all rooms are large and airy--even by New York City standards. Some rooms even offer guests large balconies with spectacular views of downtown Manhattan. Guests can also enjoy the hotel's restaurant and bar.

Hotel Gansevoort

The 14-story Hotel Gansevoort is known for its trendy decor and spacious rooms. All 187 rooms feature paintings by local New York artists. The hotel has a handful of suites with living rooms, balconies and bay windows. If a suite is too pricey, you can still enjoy topnotch treatment in the 5,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, which has an indoor/outdoor pool. The rooftop "O bar" is also a great way to spend a relaxing time.

Larchmont Hotel

The Larchmont is a great fit if you are looking for inexpensive accommodations in Greenwich Village--as long as you don't mind sharing a bathroom. Every floor in this hotel has two shared bathrooms and a small kitchen. Guest rooms have a writing desk, a wash basin, a mini library and an alarm clock. The hotel is also close to several subway lines, and minutes from downtown Manhattan. Guests can also enjoy room service from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lafayette House

The Lafayette House was a townhouse before it was converted into a boutique hotel. Despite its seemingly small size, the Lafayette House has spacious suites. They are so large that each room has the feel of a New York apartment. Some rooms even come with their own mini kitchens. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant, there is one next door to the hotel, called "B Bar," which provides room service to guests seven days a week
