Cornwall, New York, approximately 50 miles from New York City, is a small city on the Hudson River. Though not far from America's biggest city, the town has many activities for outdoor lovers. Storm King State Park is on the river in Cornwall and offers hiking and deer hunting. Harriman State Park, nine miles from Cornwall, is the second-largest state park in New York and has more than 200 miles of hiking trails. Cornwall offers several golf courses and historical sites. You can also go apple picking in one of the many area apple orchards. If you're in the area and are looking for a good place to eat, try one of these restaurants.

Canterbury Brook Inn

The Canterbury Brook Inn in Cornwall is a cozy and warm neighborhood restaurant serving traditional Swiss dishes. Fireplaces in the restaurant's three dining rooms add to the ambiance. The restaurant's terrace, which is open in the warmer months, overlooks Canterbury Brook. Menu favorites include French onion soup, pork tenderloin and homemade pecan pie. The restaurant has a wine list and several European beers on tap. Canterbury Brook Inn is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday and lunch during the summer.

The River Bank

The River Bank is a highly rated restaurant and bar not far from West Point Military Academy. The restaurant is located on an historic bank overlooking Storm King Mountain and serves French, Italian and Asian dishes.
