Hotels in Forest Park, Chicago
Village charm is plentiful in Chicago's Forest Park, with many of its original cobblestone streets still in use. One-of-a-kind shops and restaurants draw many visitors. The village is just 10 miles from Chicago's loop and is right off I-290. Nearby Oak Park offers fine accommodations and a historic charm that lends itself to the walking tours it offers to show off its two most famous sons, Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway.

Carleton of Oak Park

Carleton of Oak Park is one mile from Forest Park. The Carleton offers suites, queen bedrooms, king bedrooms or double bedrooms with two double beds, and a motor inn with 25 king or double rooms. All rooms, whether in the main hotel or the motor inn, are nonsmoking. The queen bedrooms in the main hotel have wireless Internet, cable TV, kitchens with a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and alarm clock. The king guest rooms and the doubles with two double beds are over-sized rooms that also have a dining room, in addition to all of the amenities found in the queen rooms. Whirlpool tubs are available in some king rooms for an additional cost. Suites have either a king bed or two double beds and a separate living room, in addition to a dining room and kitchen, and are outfitted with the same amenities as king and double rooms. Suites also have whirlpool tubs in select suites for an extra fee. The motor inn is adjacent to the main hotel and has 25 king or double rooms. Entrances to motor inn rooms are from outside. The rooms have most of the amenities of the rooms in the main hotel, except wireless Internet. Chicago has a 10 percent sales tax, so include that in your estimates. Children under 12 stay free in their parents' room. Roll-aways and cribs cost extra, and each additional adult incurs an additional fee per night.

Under the Ginko Tree Bed and Breakfast

This bed and breakfast is named for a large ginko tree on the property. It is in Oak Park, just a five-minute walk from the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway, which is now a museum, and from Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio. The Queen Ann Victorian B&B, built in 1890, has four guest rooms. The king-size bedroom overlooks the ginko tree and has an adjoining private bath. The Victorian queen bedroom also has an adjoining bath. The bedroom with two twin beds shares a bathroom with the other queen bedroom.
