Minnewaska Lodge

A short drive from Kerhonkson, the Minnewaska Lodge is near Gardiner, New York, at the base of the Shawangunk Mountains. The lodge is situated on 17 acres and has both cliff and forest views. The lodge has 26 guest rooms that feature oak mission-style furnishings, private decks and cathedral ceilings. Suites offer wet bars and separate living areas. The lodge has a fitness center and offers complimentary breakfasts and organic coffees. Rates range from $135 to $329 per night as of 2009.

Mohonk Mountain House

The Mohonk Mountain House, one of America's oldest family-owned resorts, is in nearby New Paltz. The 140-year-old Victorian castle is set on beautiful Lake Mohonk. It features 265 guest rooms, five cottages, three dining rooms, 138 fireplaces, 238 balconies, six parlors and a nationally recognized spa. A National Historic Landmark, the Mohonk Mountain House has manicured grounds with a greenhouse, 125 gazebos, picnic areas, a museum, stables and an observation point called Sky Top Tower.
