While the rest of Astoria is eating gyros in New York City's largest Greek neighborhood, you can sample one of Queens most fervently Brazilian churrascarias. Girassol is a paradise for the purist. The two things that matter most at Girassol are delicious churrascaria and soccer. While dining on choice cuts of barbecued meat, patrons regularly scream at the television. For a quieter experience, avoid game time. Set up with just a simple few tables, chairs and a counter, visitors will find that Portuguese is the preferred language inside. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, prices are moderate and the dress code is casual.

Point Brazil Restaurant

Seek out a cozy option at the Point Brazil Restaurant. Located in the Steinway section of Queens, Point Brazil offers traditional churrascaria buffet as well as many vegetarian options. Open for lunch and dinner, this restaurant is discreet, often busy and always comfortable. Vegetarians can choose between 15 different dishes, while carnivores are offered chicken, Brazilian sausage, top sirloin, hangar steak and pork spare ribs. Other Brazilian favorites such as tilapia in coconut cream sauce are offered as well. Family owned, Point Brazil is clean, offers large bathrooms and is moderately priced. Casual dress is appropriate.
