Bus Trips to New York From Baltimore

Bus Trips to New York From Baltimore
There are many bus companies that operate between Baltimore and New York City, and like most of the shuttle lines on the East Coast, they are dominated by Chinatown companies. Service from Baltimore typically originates at the Baltimore Travel Plaza and drop off in New York's China Town District or Penn Station.

Prices and Features

Due to intense competition among these companies, the price has become vitrually standardized across the industry; $20 for a one-way ticket and $35 for a round-trip ticket. Since there is virtually no difference in the prices, deciding on which service to take usually boils down to the schedule and the final destination in New York.

Virtually all of these buses feature coach seating, on-board bathrooms and air-conditioning. In recent years some have begun to feature Wi-Fi service as well. For those who need to leave a car overnight at the Baltimore Travel Plaza, parking passes can be purchased from the Best Western Hotel, where the buses pick up passengers.

Boarding

It is important when boarding to make sure that you are getting on the right bus, especially in Chinatown. These bus companies often line up together and ticket takers mill around in front of them. Due to the ethnic nature of these communities, communication problems are not uncommon and ticket takers have been known to take tickets for the wrong buses. If you are unable to find an English speaker, sorting out the resulting mess can become a headache.
