Dog Friendly Motels in Wells, Maine
Heading to Wells, Maine, for outdoor adventure? There's no need to leave your favorite furry friends at home. The bustling southern Maine seaside town is dog-friendly, and there are several pet-friendly motels that throw out the welcome mat for the beloved canine members of the family. Note that leashed dogs are only allowed on Wells beach before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m., during the busy summer months.

Coast Village Inn & Cottages

Well-maintained motel rooms, cottages and suites feature spacious accommodations, a short Town Trolley ride away from Well's shops, beaches and restaurants. Rooms, some in a converted farmhouse, are individually decorated with plain furnishings and coastal hues of blue and white, with mini-refrigerators and microwaves. One-bedroom cottages have well-stocked kitchens. There's an outdoor pool and picnic area and return guests gush about the super-friendly owners.

To reserve one of the pet-friendly rooms, there's an additional $15 charge per night, per pet, as of 2009.

Ne'r Beach Motel

This basic, no-frills dog-friendly motel is within walking distance of Moody-Ogunquit Beach and on the Town Trolley stop. The well-maintained property draws loads of vacationing families who like the reasonably priced one- and two-bedroom efficiencies, with full kitchens, and the outdoor, heated pool. Basic rooms also have microwaves, refrigerators and coffee makers. Dogs under 50 pounds are welcome, with advance notice and a charge in 2009 of $10 a night, per pet.

Rooms are $44 to $89 a night, depending on season; one-room efficiencies are $54 to $99; two-room efficiencies are $64 to $109.

New Harbor View Cottages

Grab a seat on your screened-in front porch and relax. These cozy and cute pet-friendly cottages offer a slice of Old Maine, with modern amenities, like full kitchens, renovated baths and a heated pool. Stay here and you and your pooch can walk into town to see a slew of restaurants and shops.

Advance notice is required to bring your dog, and there's an additional charge of $5 per day, per dog, as of 2009. A $100 refundable cleaning/damage deposit is also charged.

One-bedroom cottages are $85 to $120 a night or $550 to $695 a week. Two-bedroom cottages are $130 to $190 a night or $795 to $1,150 a week. Only weekly rentals are available during the peak summer season.

Tallwood Motel

If you're merely looking for a quiet, clean place to lay your head, with reasonable prices, consider this close-to-town, family-run motel. You can walk to shops and restaurants, or head to the Town Trolley stop, which is only a five-minute walk away. No-frill rooms have dated décor but fresh paint and carpeting. Some only have shower stalls, but all have mini-refrigerators and microwaves. Dogs are welcome in some rooms for an additional charge of $10 a night, per pet, as of 2009. Rooms cost $39 to $114, depending on the season.
