If you happen to be hiking in the countryside of northern New York state along the southern shore of Lake Ontario, you may come across the village of Bergen, just southwest of Rochester. Several accommodations options exist in the Bergen area, including Edson House Bed and Breakfast, Frost Ridge and Holiday Inn Express.

Edson House Bed and Breakfast

The Edson House Bed and Breakfast is situated just minutes from the heart of Bergen. It is made up of several houses, each with four guest rooms (and each guest room equipped with a private bathroom). Rooms come with cable television, air conditioning, phones, king-size beds, radios and refrigerators. The room price includes breakfast, usually an assortment of cereal, juice, pastries and fresh fruit plus tea or coffee.

Frost Ridge

Or try Frost Ridge, also located just a few minutes from the center of Bergen. Frost Ridge is a souped-up campground that includes water and electric services, fireplaces, restrooms and showers. Frost Ridge additionally boasts a swimming pool and a fully stocked store with groceries, cooking supplies, firewood plus a snack shack for candy- and dessert-lovers. The place also features hiking trails and a playground. As of 2009, a night at Frost Ridge begins at $26, or $145 per week.

Holiday Inn Express

The Holiday Inn Express is 20 minutes outside Bergen in Brockport. With 41 units, the Holiday Inn Express offers free breakfast, the use of a computer and rooms ranging from standard suites (two queen-size beds or one king-size bed), sofa suites (more space) and Jacuzzi suites (even more space plus a Jacuzzi tub). As of 2009, a night at the Holiday Inn Express begins at around $109.
