Hotels in Merida, Yucatan
The colonial city of Merida is the largest city in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. Although Merida is located inland and not on the gulf and Caribbean coastlines that draw most visitors to this area, it is full of cultural attractions and makes a great base for exploring the rest of the peninsula. From Merida, it is easy to visit the pyramids of Chichen Itza and the coastal town of Celestun, with its famous flamingo reserves. Merida is a historic city that is best explored on foot, and many of the best hotels are located within the historic core.
