Blue Mountain Lake, New York, is located in the Adirondack Mountains, right on Route 28, not far from Lake Placid Ski Resort. Blue Mountain Lake and the towns surrounding it are located right in the heart of Adirondack State Park. While the area is filled with lakes, rivers and mountains, it is near Route 87, the New York State Thruway.

Prospect Point Cottages

Prospect Point Cottages is right on the shores of Blue Mountain Lake with a 150 foot long private beach. All of the cottages have a porch overlooking the lake. The canoes, rowboats and paddle boats are free for the guests to use. Activities include fishing for bass, lake trout, brook trout and salmon, hiking up Castle Rock or Blue Mountain or hiking through the forest. Rates in 2009 start at about $110.

Hemlock Hall Resort On Blue Mountain Lake

Hemlock Hall Resort On Blue Mountain Lake has the main lodge which was built in 1890. In addition to the lodge, there is a motel and 7 cottages, both one and two room. It operates on the modified American plan, which includes lodging, breakfast, dinner and the use of all facilities, including hiking trails, canoes, boats, sunfish, kayaks, a diving float, private beach, library, recreation room and a fenced in playground. Rates in 2009 start at about $150.

Motel Long Lake and Cottages

Motel Long Lake and Cottages has four motel rooms, all non-smoking. Each one has a screened in porch facing Long Lake and has free Internet. There are also 13 fully equipped cottages, each with its own porch, picnic table and grill. They have their own canoes and kayaks for the use of the guests at no extra charge. Pets are allowed in one of the rooms and in one of the cottages. Activities include fishing, swimming, canoeing, boating and kayaking. Rates in 2009 start at about $85.

Shamrock Motel and Cottages

Shamrock Motel and Cottages has a motel, cottages and efficiency units. There is a private beach on Long Lake and the motel is located right on the Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway. The motel has single as well as family units. The cottages have two bedrooms, a fully furnished kitchen, combined living and dining rooms and enclosed porches. Each one also has a barbecue grill and picnic table. The efficiency units have fully furnished kitchens, private decks, barbecues and picnic tables. Amenities include fishing and boating docks, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, sail and small motorboats for rent. Rates in 2009 start at about $75.
