Attractions in North Conway, New Hampshire
North Conway is a small New Hampshire town that serves as a base for exploring the nearby wilderness in any season. The massive White Mountain National Forest borders the town on three sides. Nearby, the Saco River and Lake Conway welcome canoe and kayak enthusiasts. In the late autumn, snow starts falling and the winter sport season begins.

White Mountain National Forest

White Mountain National Forest sprawls over 100,000 acres of land in New Hampshire and Maine and boasts one of the East Coast's tallest peaks, Mount Washington. With more than 1,200 miles of hiking trails, there is plenty for the outdoor adventurer to explore. Wildlife includes bears, frogs, snakes and moose. More than 180 species of bird call White Mountain National Forest home, and the park has a peregrine falcon reintroduction program.

White Mountain National Forest also features an extensive mountain biking trail network. Facilities include 23 campgrounds and 14 picnic areas. Available winter recreation options include two cross country ski areas and four alpine ski areas, as well as areas for snowshoeing and snowmobiling.

Cranmore Mountain Resort

Cranmore Mountain Resort features 43 trails distributed fairly evenly between novice, intermediate, and advanced. The resort boasts 100 percent snow-making coverage and nine lifts to get skiers to their trails. Three terrain parks are available with various jumps and half pipes for skiers and snowboarders. Night skiing is also available on a limited basis with 11 trails and 3 lifts operating.

During the non-snowy season, Cranmore Mountain Resort runs other programs such as October's "The Ghoulag," a haunted mountaintop tour. Summer activities include a tubing park, Frisbee golf course, and a summer concert series.

Saco Bound Outdoors

Saco Bound Outdoors provides an option for canoe, kayak and raft enthusiasts. It operates guided trips down the Saco River. The trips are designed for all experience levels and last from one to five hours. Some trips incorporate white water canoeing or kayaking. Overnight camping trips are also available. Saco Bound also offers trips on the Andoscroggin River, an hour north of North Conway. Trips on the Andoscroggin include a family rafting trip, nature pontoon cruise, and paddling trips.

Self-guided adventurers can rent a canoe or kayak for use in the Saco River or Conway Lake.
