Bars in the Alberta Neighborhood of Portland

Bars in the Alberta Neighborhood of Portland
The Alberta arts district in Portland, Ore., is home to some of the best bars in Portland--high praise in a city that has the more breweries than any other city in the United States. Portland also has the most strip clubs, but that's another story. Despite complaints of gentrification, the Alberta neighborhood is beloved by locals and travelers for its creative and laid-back atmosphere, which permeates into the nightlife.

The Alberta Street Public House

The Alberta Street Public House, usually just called "the pub," is the quintessential Portland dive bar, with a dirt-cheap happy hour and $1.50 Pabst Blue Ribbon on Tuesday nights. Besides having a large selection of beer, the pub offers live folk music and free weekly movie nights.

Bye and Bye

Though only about 2 years old, the Bye and Bye has become an Alberta favorite due to its late night vegan options, eclectic cocktails and heated bamboo-covered patio. What's not to love about a bar with a massive Evel Knievel portrait?
