The Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is actually in Morrisville, N.C., almost exactly equidistant from both Raleigh and Durham, skirted on the west by I-40 and on the east by the I-540 loop. The area is a favorite of fishermen, hunters, hikers, campers, boaters, waterskiers and swimmers, since several large lakes and state parks, including B. Everett Jordan Lake, William B. Umstead State Park and Falls Lake State Park, are only a few miles from the airport. The airport is also adjacent to a number of hotels.
