Canandaigua is a small city in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, at the northern end of Canandaigua Lake. Canandaigua offers a variety of attractions that allow guests to take part in outdoor sports, like skiing and fishing, or an opportunity to just relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Bristol Mountain Ski Resort

The ski resort at Bristol Mountain boasts 33 slopes and trails with 97 percent snowmaking and 96 percent lighting coverage. Six lifts are ready to take guests up to the trails or terrain park/halfpipe area. Bristol Mountain claims to have the highest vertical of any resort between the Adirondack and Rocky Mountains, with an elevation of 1200 feet. Trail difficulty is broken down evenly, with 33 percent novice, 49 percent intermediate, and 18 percent advanced. Lodging, lessons, and group deals are available.

During the non-snowy months, Bristol Mountain also operates the Roseland Waterpark. The park features a giant wave pool, kiddy pool area, two group raft rides, three tube slides, and body flumes.

Cumming Nature Center

Cumming Nature Center is a 900-acre environmental education center, operated by the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Its located near the southern end of Canandaigua Lake, about 20 miles south of Canandaigua town. Six miles of well-maintained trails are available for hiking in the spring, summer, and fall. During the winter, guests can snowshoe or cross country ski.

Throughout the year, Cumming Nature Center holds events, typically free with admission to the center, such as guided walks, craft activities, and educational seminars.

Quiet Meadows

Quiet Meadows is a National Wildlife Federation-certified wildlife habitat set on five acres overlooking Canandaigua Lake. Various paths and gardens provide guests with the opportunity to observe and appreciate wildlife.

Quiet Meadows' main feature is its large labyrinth, cut into the lawn, that takes between 10 to 20 minutes to navigate.

Fishing Canandaigua Lake

Fishing the Finger Lakes charter and guide service offers guided fishing trips on six lakes, including Canandaigua Lake. In the summer months, fishing enthusiasts have an excellent chance of catching small mouth bass averaging 3 to 4 lbs. Guide Jonathan S.
