Founded in the 17th century, Catskill is the county seat of Greene County, New York. The name "Catskill" itself was controversial in the 19th century, as some residents thought it not regal enough for its elegant scenery. With a town population just under 12,000 residents, attractions near Catskill range from the Healing Waters Farm, which showcases a 19th century dairy barn, to Max Yasgur's farm in Bethel, New York, where the Woodstock Music Festival was held, to the beautiful Catskill Mountains, known for beautiful trails.
