Cheap Hotels in Deadwood, SD
Named after the dead trees marring its valley, Deadwood, S.D., stands out as one of the most storied locales of the 19th-century American frontier. Many personalities of the "Wild West," such as Calamity Jane, Seth Bullock and Wyatt Earp, settled in the town. Wild Bill Hickok also is buried here. In addition to its historical relevance, Deadwood offers a wide selection of recreational activities, including hiking on the George S. Mickelson Trail, skiing on Terry Peak, rock climbing on Spearfish Canyon, and fishing at Sheridan Lake.
