Hotels in Ft. Myers Beach

Hotels in Ft. Myers Beach
Situated on Estero Island just off the southern Gulf Coast of Florida, Ft. Myers Beach, is a schizophrenic sort of beach community, with a northern end devoted to the expected souvenir and bikini shops and beach bars. Its southern end, however, is removed from the tourist trade and close to the 40-mile Calusa Blueway paddling trail that winds through the natural wonders of Lover's Key State Park.

Lover's Key Beach Club & Resort

Situated on a small island adjacent to Lover's Key State Park and Estero Bay, the Lover's Key Beach Club & Resort is right across the drawbridge form the Ft. Myers Beach Golf Club. Less than a mile east of the 1,600-acre Lover's Key State Park, the resort is ideal for outdoor hiking and biking excursions on the park's eight-mile trail network, swimming on its two and a half miles of beaches, or canoeing and kayaking its 744 acres of waterways.

Standard resort suite amenities include a bedroom and living room with two TVs, full kitchen, private balconies, coffee makers, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, and Wi-Fi. The heated lagoon pool has both a waterfall and spa, and the resort's private beach borders on the state park.

Outrigger Beach Resort

Two miles north of the Lover's Key Beach Resort but still removed from the most congested parts of Ft. Myers Beach is the Outrigger Beach resort. Renowned for its Tiki Bar and the emerald flash that occasionally lights the evening skies with the last rays of sunset, the Outrigger's accommodations range from beachfront, poolside and garden efficiencies to traditional guest rooms.

All efficiencies have full kitchens with stoves and microwaves, along with dining, seating and sleeping areas and bathrooms with showers. Guest rooms have coffee makers, mini-refrigerators, and both showers and bath tubs.

On-site restaurants are the Deckside Cafe, known for the breakfast orange blossom muffins and the key lime pie, and Charley's Boathouse grill, serving Black Angus steaks grilled to order and death by chocolate.

While the hotel has a heated outdoor pool, a single treadmill constitutes the rest of the fitness equipment. Either do your running on the beach or head to Lover's Key State Park for some outdoor pursuits.

Lighthouse Resort Inn

A short walk from all the fun of Ft. Myers Beach, the pastel-hued Lighthouse Resort Inn caters to both overnight and long-term guests with standard guest rooms complete with coffee makers and mini-refrigerators, and suites with fully functional kitchens. Pets are permitted for an additional fee.

Only 200 feet from the Gulf beaches and just across Estero Boulevard from the pedestrian mall at the pier, the hotel has two heated swimming pools and a 10-foot waterfall. The poolside Tiki Bar and Grill provides legendary liquid and solid sustenance for sunbathers and swimmers, and live nightly music. Wi-Fi is available at poolside and in the hotel's other public areas. Fish from the pier and with a little luck, you'll catch a meal to grill and eat at the hotel's barbecue and picnic area.
