List of Airports in Oregon
When it comes to spending time in the outdoors, few places can compare to the Pacific Northwest. The state of Oregon, in particular, is known for offering an abundance of outdoor activities to locals and visitors alike. Lakes, coastal waters, lush forests and snow-capped mountains can all be found in Oregon. The diversity of outdoor environments found in Oregon allows the state to offer activities to compliment each season; it's just a matter of figuring out which airport gets you closest to the area you want to explore.

Portland International Airport

Portland International Airport (PDX) is the largest and the busiest airport in Oregon. Around 90% of air passenger travel through the state is done through PDX. As it name implies, PDX facilitates many international flights, but it is also a hub through which many domestic airlines fly, featuring many direct flights to most major cities in the country.

PDX was named as the top airport in the U.S. for business travellers in 2006, 2007 and 2008 by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine. This rating was based on different factors including ease of access, shops, amenities and its perceived safety and security. The airport has also undertaken many environmentally-friendly initiatives including the use of solar panels to partially power the airport.

Klamath Falls Airport

Klamath Falls Airport (LMT) is also known as Kingsley Field and is predominantly used for military and general purposes. However, it also receives a limited volume of commercial traffic. As it doesn't have to process a lot of commercial traffic, it only has two runways which are sufficient for its purposes.

LMT is an Air National Guard base and is the home to the Oregon Air National Guard's 173rd Fighter Wing. It is an advanced air-to-air combat training center and many members of the air force come to Oregon to undertake air combat exercises. LMT also houses a flight surgeon school for the U.S. Air Force.

The Klamath Falls Airport is a familiar destination for many outdoor enthusiasts. LMT serves as the jumping off point for outdoor adventures at Crater Lake National Park and Lava Beds National Monument. Summer activities include a variety of water sports at Lake Ewauna and Klamath Lake, while the Link River Nature Trails attracts hikers from around the world.

Roberts Field

Roberts Field is also known as Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM). It is the primary commercial airport in central Oregon and offers both flights on regional airlines and flights to various hubs in the country. RDM is also an important part of the Pacific Northwest's Aerial Fire Fighters, housing air tanker companies as well as a U.S. Forest Service Air Center. As part of this forest service, RDM trains and houses smoke jumper teams as well as keeping all the air tankers in good condition.

Roberts Field offers food and beverage services, infant changing services, special care restrooms and even a conference room which is available to be booked.

The airport is located in an area with an abundance of outdoor activities, which attract visitors for both Summer and Winter fun. Summer camping trips on Mount Hood are beautifully contrasted by ski vacations on Mount Bachelor. Those with a passion for astronomy will also enjoy visiting Newbury Crater or the Pine Mountain Observatory, either of which makes a refreshing break from the camping, hiking and swimming that can be found in the area around Roberts Field.
