Portland, Oregon is the second largest city in the American Pacific Northwest, and is acquiring a growing reputation as a magnet for the alternative-minded. Although very urban, the city has plenty of green space including its long Waterfront Park. Nearby are outdoors attractions like the Oregon wine country, the Columbia River Gorge, Mount Hood, Mount Saint Helens and the Oregon Coast, making the city the perfect base for all sorts of day trips and adventures.

RiverPlace Hotel

Part of the Larkspur Collection, this hotel is located on the city's Waterfront Park and is on the periphery of the downtown area. That grants it easy access to both the city center and one of the city's best bike paths.
