When you want to kick back and enjoy a meal out on the town, the city offers many dining opportunities with lake views. Whether you're in the mood for an elegant meal or a quick snack, you can get it on Burlington's waterfront.

Madera's Restaurante Mexicano & Cantina

If you're in the mood for authentic Mexican fare at an affordable price while enjoying Burlington's proximity to Lake Champlain, Madera's is a good bet. Located on Burlington's waterfront, Madera's offers patio service in the spring and summer. The menu features house specials sauteed with one of Madera's six "special Mexican sauces" and a full range of combination dishes, enchiladas, burritos and more. The restaurant's extensive margarita selection includes a range of tequilas and a "very secret" homemade sour mix. Madera's also offers a gluten-free menu. Madera's is open Monday through Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Breakwater Cafe & Grill

For casual dining on the edge of Lake Champlain, Breakwater Cafe and Grill on the King Street Ferry Dock is the place to go. Watch ferry boats set off for the New York shore as you enjoy a meal on the Burlington waterfront. Diners may choose from a selection of classic American fare, including burgers, cold sandwiches and platters. The restaurant is a nightlife hot spot as well--on most evenings throughout the spring and summer, live music makes it a destination. Breakwater Cafe and Grill closes in the winter. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to midnight.

The Skinny Pancake

The Skinny Pancake offers great views and a patio for a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner on Burlington's waterfront. There's an espresso and coffee bar and a menu that features sweet and savory crepes, fondue and appetizers. Some of the creative possibilities include an apple and brie crepe, a cheesy pesto crepe or the strawberry short crepe. The Skinny Pancake also offers a rotating assortment of specials made with seasonal and local ingredients when possible. The space hosts live entertainment on many weekends. The Skinny Pancake is open Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
