Lavendou: Bistro Provençal
A country French bistro in the far north part of Dallas, Lavendou serves lunch, high tea. and dinner, Monday through Saturday, and is available for catering. Reservations are generally recommended, and are required for high tea, as everything is freshly made to order. The Gratinee a l'Oignon, Filet de Mahi Mahi Barigoule, and Saumon au Cavier Daubergine Sauce Verte were highly reviewed by Life Style Magazine in its January 1997 edition; Moules Marinière au Saffron, Canard Rôti au Cassis, and Tournedos Felix Faure were favored by The Guide's 10 Best Dining Experience's of '96 that same month as well. Entrees range from $15 to $25 and dress ranges from casual to dressy.

Easily accessible via the Akard Station on Dallas' light rail system (DART), this prestigious downtown restaurant is in the historic district. Open Monday through Saturday, reservations are required. If your budget permits, try the Petrossian caviars, the Pecan Encrusted Foie Gras, or the Medallions of Veal. L' Ancestral
Off the Travis Walk in Dallas, L'Ancestral is an intimate experience, with only 19 tables in the dining room, and additional seating outside on the patio. Open Monday through Saturday, L'Ancestral serves lunch and dinner. Reservations are required. Try the French cheeses, the soupe a l'oignon, and the steak tartare, and save room for the pot de crème au caramel or a chocolate tarte for dessert. Bijoux
Located in the Inwood Village, Bijoux is a relative newcomer to the local French cuisine scene, but was voted Best New Restaurant of 2006 by the Dallas Morning News. Reservations are a must for dinner, Monday through Saturday. The menu is constantly changing, lending itself to frequent visits and new culinary experiences. The Dallas Voice said, "We have yet to find a dish that doesn't make us want to tap dance on the tabletop." An evening will set you back between $75-$150 per person; dress is upscale casual.
