Thornton, New Hampshire is a picturesque New England town, nestled in the White Mountain National Forest. The vast miles of forest provide a lovely setting for any outdoor enthusiast that enjoys hiking or biking. In the winter months, snow or ski board at one of the nearby winter destinations, including Loon Mountain, Cannon Mountain Waterville Valley Resort, and Tenney Mountain. While Thornton, New Hampshire is a small town, it offers some great dining options.

William Tell Restaurant

The William Tell Restaurant is a Thornton favorite, for tourists and locals alike. The building is reminiscent of the restored, historic homes in the area, and has a large fireplace in the dining room. A cozy lounge serves wine, micro brews, and mixed drinks. The restaurant has a Swiss theme, and the menu plays off of this, with many European-inspired dishes, like fondue, venison meatloaf, weiner schnitzel, and sauer braten. This is a great place to stop in for a bite after a day of golfing at Thornton's Jack O' Lantern golf course.

Tony's Italian Grille and Pub

Tony's Italian Grille and Pub serves rustic, authentic, delicious Italian food. The staff is friendly, and there are sometimes live music performances. Outdoor dining is available when weather permits. Every table gets a basket of warm bread and the menu is large and offers great choices, like nightly specials, pizza, mussels, Angus beef steaks, house-smoked salmon, local produce, and the tomato sauce is always homemade. Close by is the Pemigewasset River, where swimming and boating can be enjoyed.

Country Cow Restaurant & Bar

Just a 4 mile drive from Thornton, is Campton, New Hampshire, home of the Country Cow Restaurant & Bar. This facility boasts a separate bar, offering cocktails, wine and a pool table. Diners will enjoy the glassed in porch, with river views. The atmosphere is casual, but classy. The specialty is prime rib, and there are some great brunch items, like Eggs Benedict. During lunch, try the lobster salad or a Reuben. Campton and Thornton alike have their own Owl's Nest Golf Club, both with lovely scenery.
