Watertown, New York, is home to some beautiful water, including Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, the Black River, and the Indian Lakes Region. All of the great waterways will give an outdoor enthusiast plenty to do, including whitewater rafting, fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming, and scuba diving. Winters are cold and snowy, and great for skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing.

Crystal Restaurant

The Crystal Restaurant is a historic landmark, being the oldest established restaurant in Watertown, New York. The decor is reminiscent of old times, with original woodwork and paneling, and tin ceilings. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 7 am-10 pm, and they are closed on Monday. The Crystal Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, homemade pies and a full bar menu. Stand out dishes include rib eye steaks, broiled seafood, pancakes, burgers, grilled cheese, and mashed potatoes. Close by the restaurant is historic Thompson Park. The park has a playground, zoo, swimming pool, and golfing.

Pete's Restaurant

Pete's Restaurant is open Sunday 4:00 pm-9:00 pm, and Monday through Saturday 4:30-10:00. Stop by on Monday for all you can eat spaghetti, or try some of the other delicious dinner offerings served up. The menu is large and impressive, and consists of homemade pastas and desserts, calzones, pizza, seafood, steak, veal, hot sandwiches, burgers and many appetizer choices. An extensive wine and cocktail menu is available, as well as some great kids choices. After dinner, take a walk along the Veteran's Memorial Riverwalk for great river viewing.

Apollo Restaurant

Apollo Restaurant is located in the Price Chopper Plaza in Watertown, New York. Apollo Restaurant serves delicious and authentic Greek cuisine Monday through Friday 11am-9 pm, and weekends 8 am-9pm. Breakfast is available until 1 pm and consists of omelets, eggs, and french toast, mostly with a Greek twist, like spinach and feta. There is a to go menu, with classic gyros, Greek salads, and American fare like burgers. Apollo Restaurant has some great dinner items, like pasticcio (Greek lasagna), and mousaka. The restaurant is not far from Black River, where rafting is enjoyed.

Texas Roadhouse

The Texas Roadhouse is a great chain restaurant, with a location in Watertown, New York. Choose from a wide variety of cooked to order steaks, including t-bone, rib eye, and even prime rib. The barbecue is good, and choices include pulled pork, chicken and ribs. A ton of other options, like fried fish, burgers, salads and pork chops are available. There is a good sized kids menu for the little ones, and a vast margarita menu for grownups. This is a great place to eat after hiking along the wilderness trails that wind through Marble Street Park to the river.
