Found in 1885 and known as the "The biggest little city in Oregon," Haines is located in Baker County. After a busy day on the TT Wildlife Tours elk viewing or riding horses or the Oregon Trail Monument, you might be hungry for a juicy steak. Haines Steak House

Closed on Tuesdays and open only for dinner is Haines Steak House. Enjoy Western-style family dining with your choice of flat iron, T-bone, sirloin or filet mignon. Steaks come with the famous chuck wagon salad bar, potato, baked beans and bread, so you'll be sure to go home full. Chicken, burgers, halibut and even lobster tail also are on the menu as well as nightly specials.

Geiser Grill

Inside the Geiser Grand Hotel, 10 miles south of Haines in Baker City, is the Geiser Grill. Although it is open for lunch, you need to visit it at dinner time if you want steaks. Prime rib is a house specialty but it also serves filet and rib-eye. Steaks are served with your choice of soup or salad and choice of potato. Nightly specials feature the best ingredients from the region, and made-from-scratch desserts also are on the menu.

Papa's Steakhouse and Saloon

About 20 miles north of Haines is Papa's Steakhouse and Saloon in Union. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, Papa's serves a wide variety of steaks in small portions of 6 ounces to large portions of 20 ounces. Try a rib-eye, top sirloin, New York strip or even a chicken fried steak. Steaks come served with fries at lunch time or choice of potato at dinner time. It also has a large selection of seafood, chicken and other dishes as well as nightly specials.
