Clubs in Rochester, New York

After a spending a long, adventure-filled day exploring nearby Bristol Mountain by foot or ski, or perhaps just cycling through one of the area's many green parks, the city of Rochester offers plenty more activities for energetic night owls. Take a quiet cat nap after dinner at your hotel before heading out to explore Rochester's club scene, where you can rock out to live music, shake your booty to hip hop, or dance to techno and gothic sounds.

Water Street Music Hall

The Water Street Music Hall is one of Rochester's premiere live music venues. Touring bands and local acts alike adorn the stage on a near nightly basis. Rock, folk, dub and hip-hop are a few of the sounds that can be heard emanating from Water Street Music Hall. Please note that this is a live music club only; they are not open on nights when there is no show. Water Street Music Hall is one of the few places in Rochester where underage music fans are allowed to enter; most shows are 16+ or 18+ (ID required at all times).

Vertex

Gothic and industrial hipsters will dig the atmosphere at Vertex, where DJs spin techno, industrial and '80s music, and the friendly clubbers dance the night away. Vertex has two bars, a large dance floor, pool table, dart board, video screen and courtyard. This three-floor complex is undoubtedly the best place in Rochester to meet the darkwave prince or princess of your dreams. The club is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Guests must have proper ID; the cover is slightly higher for guests under the age of 21, and absolutely no one under 18 is allowed inside.

Club NV

Hip hop, R&B, reggae and booty-shaking beats rule the scene at Club NV, which offers drink specials and great music every night of the week. If you're lucky, you'll be invited to chill in the VIP room, which is elegantly furnished and overlooks the dance floor. Club NV occasionally hosts live events such as concerts and comedy shows featuring local talent. This is a great place to meet and mingle with Rochester locals. Ladies 18+ are permitted entrance, while gentlemen must be at least 21 years of age.
