Coushatta is in northwest Louisiana on the banks of the Red River, which offers ample opportunities for fishing. To the north is the Loggy Bayou Wildlife Management area, which provides opportunities for hunting, fishing and hiking. Coushatta is easy to reach, and is an hour's drive from Shreveport.

Grand Bayou Resort

The Grand Bayou Resort offers several lodging options and plenty of amenities for outdoor enthusiasts. Depending on how much space you need, you can rent a two-bedroom lodge, a one-bedroom cabin or even a hookup site for your RV. The resort is next to the John K. Kelly-Grand Bayou Reservoir, which offers opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing. Grand Bayou also has cleared areas for tubing and skiing during winter months.

Chandlers Camp

If you're just looking for a safe, inexpensive place to pitch your tent overnight, Chandlers Camp is a good choice, It is just outside Coushatta, along State Route 9. The camp provides access to Black Lake, a reservoir that allows for fishing, small boats and excellent bird watching, thanks to the cypress trees around the lake. Chandlers is an easy base of operations from which to explore the Coushatta area.
